Harlequin Players

Under Milkwood

As the final production of its 1965 season, Harlequin Players presented Under Milkwood, by Dylan Thomas. Taking place in the course of spring day in a Welsh seacoast town, this stylized narrative focused on verbal imagery, and was performed with minimal sets and action. The production was an all-hands-on-deck affair, with 78 different roles spread among 38 cast members; company members' brothers and sisters (some of whom went on to become Harlequins themselves) were recruited to play the small children's roles, and producer-director Vintcent assumed the role of the narrator.
