A St. Mark’s education is an investment that lasts a lifetime.
St. Mark’s has a longstanding commitment to breaking down financial barriers for families and opening doors of possibilities for boys and young men who can thrive and contribute in the community. By providing extensive financial aid resources as well as tuition financing options, St. Mark’s works closely with families to find manageable ways to afford their son’s education. In addition, the cost of tuition, while significant, does not come close to covering the full cost of educating a Marksman. Thanks to a very strong endowment and extensive philanthropic support, tuition funds 75% of the budget, while other sources consistently fund excellence for Marksmen on every corner of the campus. This model enables St. Mark’s to invest far more resources per student than schools with comparable tuitions.

A St. Mark's education is an important and life-shaping investment in your son's future. Marksmen go on to become leaders in every field and make important contributions around the globe. Boys quickly learn that being a Marksman means much more than just being a St. Mark’s student; it means living out the values, principles, and ideals of the School and carrying those commitments into the world. The St. Mark’s community is very special, and the bonds that are formed stay with the boys throughout their lives.

Financial Aid

More than one-third of the School’s $165 million endowment is devoted to need-based financial aid for students who are admitted to the School. A high value is placed on enrolling students from all backgrounds and varied socioeconomic conditions. This commitment ensures that St. Mark’s will have the ability to attract and enroll boys who will make a difference without being limited by families' ability to pay the tuition.

In addition to outright grants for tuition assistance, the School provides funding to boys who receive financial aid to support their entire student experience, including participation in the fine arts, athletics, student travel, the wilderness program, tutoring, and much more.

Intended to bridge the gap between a family's resources and the cost of tuition, financial aid is awarded to families across a wide range of income levels. Roughly half of all financial aid grants are awarded to students with an overall family income of more than $175,000. The average financial aid grant is more than $21,000, and the School funds, on average, approximately 90% of the tuition for families with income of less than $140,000.

Financial aid awards are recommended by the St. Mark’s Financial Aid Committee using information provided by applicant families and qualification information from the Clarity Financial Aid Application.

"When we fell on financial hard times, St. Mark's was there for us, and the scholarship awarded to our son allowed him to continue. Most importantly, [our son] and our family were always treated with respect and never felt any less a part of the St. Mark’s community."
