Seniors Named McDermott Scholars

Cameron Bossalini ’17 and Chirag Gokani ’17 have been named Eugene McDermott Scholars by the University of Texas at Dallas. They join 22 other seniors from across the nation who were chosen as McDermott Scholars after an extensive application and interview process. St. Mark’s is the only school with two students represented.

"We're thrilled to have two seniors selected as McDermott Scholars,” said Casey Gendason, Associate Director of College Counseling. “Our longstanding relationship with the McDermott family and the incredible opportunities offered to McDermott Scholars make this program an attractive option for our students. We know Cameron and Chirag will continue to lead and initiate throughout their time as McDermott Scholars."

McDermott Scholars receive full tuition, room and board, and summer travel opportunities. In addition, the Scholars will engage in public service throughout their time at UTD and have access to internships and hands-on research experiences. Cameron plans to study electrical engineering, and Chirag plans to study physics.

The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program was established at UTD in 2000 by Margaret McDermott in honor of her late husband. Since 2004, seven Marksmen have been named McDermott Scholars. The McDermotts also made a lasting impact on St. Mark’s, transforming the campus and have helped lead the School for more than half a century.
