On Thursday, April 6, more than 140 St. Mark’s students and faculty traveled to the Casady School in Oklahoma City for the 50th annual ISAS Arts Festival. The Festival welcomed more than 3,000 students from 40 independent schools to participate in a celebration of the performing and visual arts.
“The ISAS Fine Arts Festival is a great opportunity for our boys to exhibit their work while connecting with students from other ISAS schools to learn about different processes and conceptual approaches,” said Scott Hunt, photography instructor and Arnold E. Holtberg Master Teaching Chair.
During the weekend, students attended workshops, one-act plays, concerts, film screenings, improv performances, and piano and vocal recitals. Marksmen had the opportunity to showcase their visual art as well as view works by students from other schools. Members of the St. Mark’s choir also took part in one of the weekend's signature events, performing in an 800-person choir.
“The ISAS Festival is the only high school fine arts festival in the country, and it is a fabulous opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in all things artistic and creative,” said St. Mark’s Fine Arts Department Chair Marion Glorioso. “It was a fun celebration that honored the tradition of the Festival and encouraged continued growth and support of the ISAS Fine Arts programs.”
