School Mourns Loss of Evans Mank

St. Mark’s School of Texas mourns the loss of long-time faculty member Evans Mank, who passed away on May 28, 2016, in Dallas.

After serving as a weatherman in the United States Navy, Evans completed his Master’s degree at the University of Illinois and began his teaching career. In 1970, Evans accepted a job at St. Mark’s and moved to Dallas with his wife Judy and sons Bruce and Tim. He taught and coached at St. Mark's for 28 years, retiring in 1998. Through his work in the classroom, on the athletic fields, and recruiting candidates to attend St. Mark's, Evans made a profound and lasting impact on many lives. He remained engaged in education throughout retirement, serving on the board of Peak Preparatory School and returning to the classroom weekly to tutor children at a local public elementary school.

Evans’ passion for St. Mark’s is also evident in his sons Bruce '86 and Tim '87, who is a St. Mark’s teacher, and his grandsons Maddox '22 and Carter '24.

A memorial service celebrating Evans’ life will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Midway Hills Christian Church, 11001 Midway Road, Dallas, TX 75229. An obituary is available and can be viewed here.
