Freshmen Present Shakespeare Papers

On February 29, 2016, fourteen ninth grade students attended a colloquium on Shakepeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream hosted by Greenhill School. There, four of the students presented papers chosen by the colloquium’s selection committee: Antonio Ivarra ’19 presented “Hard Knocks: A Story of Love and Ignorance”; Charlie Hubbard ’19 presented “Point of View and Its Role in Determining Comedy”; Jack Rocchio ’19 presented “Straying from Rationality”; and Andy Crowe ’19 presented “A Midsummer Night’s Conflict.” The Marksmen were among the youngest participants in the competition. Students were also able to attend various workshops and discussions and watch an Oscar-inspired lecture by SMU Professor Dan Moss.

“Our boys had the rare opportunity to share their ideas and questions with other students from the DFW area,” said chaperone and English Department Chair Michael Morris. “I hope they left feeling part of the greater community of arts and letters.”
