Student Films Selected for SXSW

The 13th Annual Texas High School Film Competition has selected two St. Mark’s films to be screened at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival. Distractions by Devan Prabhakar ’17, Matthew Theilmann ’18, Elijah Hubbard ’17, and Will Ingram ’17, and Art by August Graue ’17, René Reeder ’17 and Devan Prabhakar ’17 were among the 24 final films selected to be screened during the festival in March 2016. A panel of judges will watch each film and select a Best in Show. In addition to the film studies students, Cameron Bossalini ’17 worked on another selected film, Trolley, with five other local high school students.

“I am so proud of all of the boys who were accepted at SXSW this year,” said film studies teacher Jennifer Gilbert. “Their films showcase the best that St. Mark’s film has to offer.”

Including Distractions and Art, five St. Mark’s student-produced films have been shown at the SXSW Film Festival. This year’s selected films can be viewed at smtexas.org/smfilm.
