Alumnus Throws First Pitch at Yankee Stadium

St. Mark’s alumnus Robert Edsel ’75 threw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium in New York, opening the July 18 game against the Cincinnati Reds. Edsel also signed copies of his new history book, Saving Italy, which expands upon the research he published in his 2009 best-seller The Monuments Men. Earlier this year, The Monuments Men was adapted into a star-studded feature film written, starring, and directed by George Clooney. Edsel, a former member of the Board of Trustees, was awarded the 2011 Distinguished Alumnus Award, in part for his efforts establishing The Monuments Men Foundation.

In anticipation for his pitch, Edsel spent time practicing on Montgomery Field at St. Mark’s.
