School to Host Astronaut

Before the football game on Friday, September 20, St. Mark's will host former NASA astronaut Tom D. Jones, Ph.D., in Decherd Performance Hall from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Over his eleven-year career in the space program, Dr. Jones has flown on four shuttle missions, lead several spacewalks, engineered intelligence-gathering systems for the CIA, and developed advanced mission concepts to explore our solar system. He even has an asteroid named after him. Dr. Jones is currently a senior research scientist at the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition.

Into Space with Astronaut Tom Jones is brought to the St. Mark's community and the public by the Dallas Arboretum in celebration of the opening of the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden. Tickets are on sale through the Dallas Arboretum: $5 for students, $15 for adults, and $25 for Contributor preferred seating.

The talk takes places on a busy night for Lions fans. Middle School Spirit Night in the Commons starts at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Varsity football game against All Saints at 7:00 p.m.
