A small legion of Marksmen achieved mighty results at the Texas State Junior Classical League Area C Competition. Once again, St. Mark's fared extremely well in the Certamina (Latin, for quiz bowl), winning two out of the possible three coveted first-place trophies.
Kudos go to Darwin Yang ’15, Kevin Wu ’16, Alden James ’16, Aidan Maurstad ’16, and alternates Kevin Kim ’16, and Joshua Choe ’16, who won the Intermediate Level first-place trophy, nearly shutting out the opposition in the finals. The team of Keith Kadesky ’17, Shailen Parmar ’17, and Killian Green ’17 won the trophy at the Novice Level. Both teams now qualify for the upcoming State Championship in Flower Mound, April 12–13, 2013.
The Marksmen also distinguished themselves in individual categories. Darwin Yang ’15, Victor Zhou ’14, Shailen Parmar ’17, Keith Kadesky ’17, Joshue Choe ‘16, and Drew Baxley ’16 won first place ribbons; Ali Ahmed ’14, Cameron Baxley ’14, Killian Green ’17, Alden James ’16, Kevin Kim ’16, and Nabeel Muscatwalla ’14 won second place honors; and Aidan Maurstad ’16, Johnathan Kim ’14, Phillip Osborn ’14, and Kevin Wu ’16 won third place ribbons.
To these Marksmen, we say "Gratulation!" (congratulations).
