St. Mark's juniors Victor Zhou and Vincent Shia are moving forward as semifinalists for the 2013 U.S. Physics Team. Victor and Vincent join about four hundred other semifinalists from high schools across the country who will take the the semifinal exam in March.

Questions on the semifinal exam include: "Determine the kinetic energy of a newly discovered subatomic particle which, at rest, lives for exactly r= 3 x 10^-8 seconds before decaying into two identical particles", and "Determine the magnetic field for all regions of two infinitely long concentric hollow cylinders which have radii a and 4a."

In May, the final members of the Physics Team will be announced and will represent the United States this summer at the 44th International Physics Olympiad in Copenhagen, Denmark.
