26 Seniors named Commended Students

The National Merit Scholarship Program named 26 members of the Class of 2024 commended students based on each student’s PSAT/NMSQT scores, the organization announced this week. Commended students are recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying tests.

“We are extremely proud of our seniors’ accomplishments,” said Phoebe Butler, associate director of College Counseling. “To have more than half the class achieve recognition from National Merit speaks to the Class of 2024’s academic strength and preparedness for college. College Counseling is confident that these acknowledgments will shine through in the students’ applications.”

The following seniors have been named as commended students:

Ben Adams, Bennett Alger, Aaron Augustine, Zachary Bashour, Lucas Blumenthal, Will Bowers, Hudson Brown, Thomas Clancy, William Clarke, Alex Dobbs, Jordan Feldman, Anish Guddati, Charlie Hill, Henry Hoak, Adam Kappelman, Preston Laird, Baker Lipscomb, Kevin Lu, John Ma, Asa McCaleb, Shantiv Monga, Amogh Naganand, Anderson Selinger, Miller Wendorf, Dawson Yao and John Zhao.

Earlier this month, 25 seniors were named National Merit semi-finalists and could continue on to earn the distinction of National Merit finalist. The 34,000 commended students nationwide earned this recognition based on national scores applicable to all program participants without regard to state-by-state distribution.
