Alumnus celebrates second Super Bowl win

For the second time in four years, the Super Bowl ended with Clark Hunt ’83 hoisting the Lombardi Trophy as the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated another victory, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-35. 

Three days later, Clark, the Chiefs' chairman and CEO, carried that trophy through Kansas City at the team’s Super Bowl LVII victory parade. 

“There is nothing like the pure joy of a Super Bowl parade,” Hunt said to the crowd gathered in front of Kansas City Union Station. “It’s is a joy that comes from getting to share with the people you love. It's a joy that comes from knowing the hard work it took to get here.”

This year’s championship comes during an incredible renaissance for the Chiefs football franchise. Under Hunt's leadership, the Chiefs have appeared in three Super Bowls in the past four years, following a 50-year absence from the championship game. 

Clark was joined in Arizona by members of his family, including his brother Dan ’96 (Vice President of Hunt Sports Group), wife Tavia, children Knobel ’21, Ava and Gracie and mother Norma Hunt, the only woman who has attended every Super Bowl in history. On their way to the Super Bowl, the Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals to win the AFL Championship. In a poignant moment, the team reclaimed the Lamar Hunt Trophy, named for Clark's father, who was a pioneer of the NFL and founder of the Kansas City Chiefs. 

Since graduating, Clark Hunt has remained an active member of the St. Mark's community as an alumnus, parent and trustee, including serving as Board of Trustees president from 2019-2021. In 2022, the School presented Clark with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, and he delivered the Commencement address to the Class of 2022 in May 2022.
