30 seniors named Commended by National Merit

The National Merit Scholarship Program named 30 members of the Class of 2023 commended students, based on each student’s PSAT/NMSQT scores, the organization announced this week. Commended students are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying tests.

 

“The commended student recognition acknowledges these students’ high academic achievement among their peers through the National Merit Scholarship Program,” said Josh Shandera, associate director of College Counseling. “The fact that over 50 percent of the class of 2023 received some recognition from National Merit speaks to their individual talents as well as their high level of academic preparedness.”

 

The following seniors have been named as commended students:

 

Blake Backes, Ian Dalrymple, Ishaan Devalla, Henry Dobbs, Chase Fisher, Nathaniel Fisher, Ethan Gaertner, Aditya Goel, Thomas Goglia, Jacob Grossfeld, Silas Hosler, Sal Hussain, Brendan Kelly, Aadi Khasgiwala, Andrew Kogan, Samuel Larkin, Winston Lee, Myles Lowenberg, Hayward Metcalf, Luke Noack, Bijaan Noormohamed, Aidan Peck, Rishab Siddamshetty, Hyun Joon Song, Luke Stallings, Christian Tsvetanov, Anthony Wang, Grant Warnecke, Jackson Whitaker and Christian Youst.

 

Earlier this month, 24 seniors were named National Merit semi-finalists, and could continue on to earn the distinction of National Merit finalist. The 34,000 commended students nationwide earned this recognition based on national scores applicable to all program participants without regard to state-by-state distribution.
