After serving for the past four years as a member of the faculty, Jason Leneau has been appointed as the next Assistant Head of Upper School beginning in the fall of 2021. A valued colleague and positive role model for the boys, Jason is constantly seeking opportunities to grow and contribute to the well-being of others. A three-sport coach, physical education teacher, advisor, class co-sponsor, and member of the Upper School Admission Committee, he is engaged and involved. Jason will work in close partnership with Colin Igoe and the Upper School team to support student life initiatives, Character and Leadership education efforts, and help guide programs that contribute to student health, wellness, performance, and behavior.
“From the moment he stepped onto campus, Jason quickly earned the respect and admiration of boys and colleagues alike," said David W. Dini, Eugene McDermott Headmaster. "He makes positive and meaningful connections with Marksmen of all ages while also forging important partnerships with fellow teachers and staff. Jason is authentic, dedicated, and a difference-maker everywhere he goes.”
Jason joined the St. Mark’s faculty in 2017 to teach physical education and coach football, wrestling, and lacrosse. A graduate of the Boys’ Latin School in Baltimore, Maryland, Jason went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia. Jason was a member of the varsity wrestling and lacrosse teams at UVA, and he helped his team secure the 1999 NCAA Lacrosse Championship. Before coming to St. Mark’s, Jason served on the faculty of Boys’ Latin and St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in California, teaching science, physical education, and coaching multiple sports. Jason also played professional lacrosse for the Los Angeles Riptide, in addition to serving as a lacrosse and strength and conditioning coach at Chapman University.
"It has been a pleasure to learn and grow here, and I truly look forward to continuing my work in our community," Mr. Leneau said.
Jason and his wife Jamie are the proud parents of two boys, including Isaiah, a Marksman from the Class of 2032.
