On June 30, the School community celebrated another successful year for the St. Mark’s Fund. During the 2018–2019 school year, more than 3,200 alumni, parents, and friends of the School contributed more than $4 million to the St. Mark’s Fund, eclipsing that mark for the third consecutive year and the third time in the history of the School. Each year, gifts to the St. Mark’s Fund account for more than 11 percent of the School’s operating budget and help enhance the St. Mark’s experience for current Marksmen and faculty across campus. The breadth of support from across the community, demonstrated by strong participation numbers, is critical to reinforcing the St. Mark’s mission and ensuring continued excellence for the year to come.
For the third time in the School’s history, alumni raised more than $2 million in the St. Mark’s Fund, with eleven Reunion Classes contributing $955,000. The Class of 1964 and the Class of 2004 set both giving and participation records for the 55th and 15th Reunions, respectively. Illustrating the depth of the Alumni Association, a majority of the 15 young alumni classes (2004-2018) achieved 60 percent participation. Overall alumni participation reached 55 percent, surpassing 50 percent for the 11th consecutive year.
Parent participation in this year’s Fund reached 87 percent and total giving eclipsed $1.7 million for the fourth consecutive year, growing the tradition of philanthropy celebrated at St. Mark’s.
