Zierk Athletic Center Nears Completion

The northeast corner of campus has been bustling with activity as crews put the finishing touches on the 77,000-square-foot Zierk Athletic Center and adjoining Hill Tennis Center. Soon, the sounds of construction will be replaced with the shouts, splashes, and cheers of competition.

“Construction is nearing completion as this remarkable addition to the St. Mark’s campus comes to life, following more than five years of thoughtful planning, preparation, and work,” said David W. Dini, Eugene McDermott Headmaster, in his holiday letter to the community. “It is with genuine humility that I extend our heartfelt gratitude not only to the donors who made this possible, but also to the entire School community for pulling together in the years following the 2019 tornado.”

Amid the flurry of progress, crews have begun installing bleachers in Hicks Gym and have laid the wood flooring of the Tom Adams Court. Nearly 400,000 gallons of water now fill the Levering Pool. The new lockers that survived the 2019 tornado have been installed in the varsity locker room. The six courts of the Hill Tennis Center are ready for competition, and furniture will soon be delivered to the common spaces in the Crow Atrium.
