Community Celebrates Homecoming

St. Mark’s kicked off its Homecoming on a picturesque Friday night. More than 1,000 guests representing all areas of the School community – alumni, parents, families, and current and former faculty and staff – gathered in the W. W. Browning, Jr., Great Hall on Oct. 4 for the Homecoming Kick-Off Party.

“It was such a treat to see so many members of the community together,” said Tiffany Rubi, who co-chaired this year’s Homecoming celebration along with Erin McKool and Suzanne Turner. “We had a chance to catch up with my son Peter’s senior buddy. My son is now a junior and his buddy is married, and it was so special to reminisce about them walking into the Great Hall together a decade ago – right where we celebrated Homecoming!”

Marksmen representing seven decades reconnected with classmates and former teachers, while also getting to know the modern St. Mark’s.

"The breadth and depth of the Marksman community was on full display as we welcomed alumni from the Classes of 1964 through 2024,” said Jack Mallick ’14, Ahlberg & Ribman Family Director of Alumni Relations. “No matter when they graduated, Homecoming is a chance for all Marksmen to return home and reconnect with St. Mark’s.”

The evening featured two varsity games that saw the Lions go up against the Kinkaid Falcons in football and the Greenhill Hornets in volleyball. The varsity volleyball team defended their home court across five hard-fought matches. Scores climbed to 27-29 in the fourth match before the Lions earned their win with a decisive fifth match, 15-10. On the football field, the Lions took an early lead over Kinkaid. After a halftime deficit, they rallied to a lead in the fourth quarter but ultimately came up short at 23-34.

At halftime, St. Mark’s introduced its 2024 Homecoming Court, which included St. Mark’s seniors Reagan Brower, Lawrence Gardner, Jacob Lobell, Owen Park, and Arjun Poi; the Hockaday seniors were Anjy Fadairo, Tori Fair, Rayna Li, Mae Flanagan, and Jordan Lacsamana. On Saturday, at the Kingsman-themed Homecoming Dance, Lawrence and Anjy were crowned Homecoming King and Queen, respectively.
