On October 3, 2016, New York Times bestselling author Nathan Hale visited campus to teach and entertain boys in grades 3–5. Through his award-winning graphic novel series, Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales, Mr. Hale presents historic events in an appealing and entertaining comic strip format. His Tales have covered key moments in history, including The Alamo, World War I, and the famed Revolutionary War hero Nathan Hale.
Using his iPad and a Smartboard, Mr. Hale told the story of The Lewis and Clark Expedition, illustrating characters and scenes as he talked.
“Boys and teachers will not forget how Thomas Jefferson made the deal with Napoléon for the Louisiana Purchase,” said Barbara Kinkead, Assistant Director of Library & Information Services for Lower School, who helped organize Mr. Hale’s visit. “We were all laughing so hard, I’m not sure we realized how much we were learning!”
