Community Celebrates the Holidays

On the morning of December 18, 2015, the entire St. Mark’s student body gathered in the W. W. Browning, Jr., Great Hall with faculty, staff, parents, and alumni for the annual All-School Christmas Party. Students applauded as the Senior Class entered, carrying their Lower School buddies on their shoulders and embodying the iconic Path to Manhood statue. After each buddy placed his ornament on the tree, Student Council President JT Graass ’16 announced the successful completion of the Community Service Gift Drive, which collected more than 2,400 gifts for local non-profits. Major Barbara Rich, Salvation Army DFW Metroplex A/Commander, thanked the St. Mark’s community for their generosity. 

 

“What you do when you help children at Christmas is not just brighten their eyes on Christmas morning,” Major Rich said. “For many children, you have restored their hope in the community.”

 

Before dismissing school for the Christmas break, Eugene McDermott Headmaster David Dini left the boys with a few thoughts about the holidays: “While it may be practiced in different forms, the meaning of the season is truly universal. Never underestimate the difference that you can make in the lives of others.”
