On the night of Monday, November 16, 2015, St. Mark’s Leadership and Ethics Program held its 8th annual Senior Leadership Dinner for the Class of 2016. This yearly event invites a prominent leader to campus to speak with seniors about the importance of understanding leadership and what it means to be a good man. A portion of the dinner’s proceeds are contributed to Austin Street Center in conjunction with the Junior Class’ McDonald’s Week.
This year’s speaker, Chris Lee ’96, oversees the real estate credit division of KKR, a New York-based private equity firm. He spoke with the Senior Class about his experiences at St. Mark’s, in college, and adult life, and stressed the value of a well-rounded education. He encouraged Marksmen to make the most of their academic and extracurricular experiences, stressing the need to constantly stretch themselves.
Mr. Lee attended St. Mark’s for 12 years before earning a BA from Emory University and an MBA from Harvard University. He has served on the St. Mark’s Board of Trustees since 2008, chaired two of his Class Reunions, received the Young Alumni Service Citation in 2010, and is an active leader on the New York Regional Club Committee. He also traveled extensively between New York and Dallas throughout 2013 while serving on the Headmaster Search Committee. Prior to joining KKR, Chris enjoyed successful stints at both Goldman Sachs and Apollo Global Management.
The Lee family has enjoyed a more than three decade association with St. Mark’s. Chris’ younger brother, Julian, graduated from St. Mark's in 1998 and their father, Dr. Ed Lee, served as a member of the St. Mark’s Board of Trustees from 1992-1998.
