On Wednesday and Thursday, January 9-10, former United States Poet Laureate Billy Collins visited campus as the Robert E. Dennard Visiting Scholar. Mr. Collins is the editor of several anthologies and the author of eight volumes of poetry, three of which broke sales records in the genre.
On Thursday, January 10, Mr. Collins joined Curtis Sittenfeld, Marion Winik, and St. Mark's own Sid Balman ’76 for the 2013 Literary Festival. The four writers discussed their experiences and careers with the Upper School assembly, led classroom discussions and activities, and judged the annual writing competition.
