Senior Awards Announced

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, 96 young men donned white dinner jackets and took the stage in the Ida M. and Cecil H. Green Commencement Theater. As St. Mark’s recognized the incredible Marksmen of the Class of 2024, Eugene McDermott Headmaster David W. Dini presented the three major School prizes. A video of the presentation can be found below, and click here to see all of the videos from St. Mark’s year-end traditions.

The Headmaster’s Cup is awarded by the Headmaster with the advice of the faculty to the senior who best exemplifies the traits that St. Mark’s seeks to foster in its students: the quest for excellence, intellectual curiosity and commitment, service to the School and community, and concern for others.

This year’s honoree has made the most of every opportunity at St. Mark’s. From first grade through senior year, he’s invested himself fully at every turn and soaked up all at that our school has to offer. Inherently kind, curious, and invested in the lives of others, he is genuine, sincere, and thinks of others before himself.

In and out of the classroom, this Marksman has consistently impressed his teachers and classmates with his judgment, his commitment, and his dedication to excellence. He’s responsible, caring, and a true bridge builder. He’s a difference maker wherever he goes, from guiding younger Lions by example or lifting up a friend in need, he loves this school.

Multi-sport athlete and team captain, Student Alumni Association, Ethos Program, Habitat for Humanity, managing editor of The ReMarker, and most importantly, generous friend to all. It is my great pleasure to present the 2024 Headmaster’s Cup to Nolan Marcus.

The School Flag
is awarded by the faculty and presented by the Head of Upper School to a senior for loyalty, dedication and distinguished service to the School.

This Marksman has immersed himself in the St. Mark’s community and touched every corner of the campus. He arrives early, leaves late, and is limited only by his own imagination. One teacher said of this honoree, “His intellectual maturity is matched only by his humility. He’s a creative, one-of-a-kind student who shows his talent in everything he does.” Another shared, “He epitomizes the engaged pursuit of knowledge and comes to class each day prepared and eager to participate.”

Multi-sport athlete, creative artist, writer, thinker, leader, he does it all. This Marksman recently said to a group of new students and families that he truly found himself at St. Mark’s. And indeed he has. Nobody is a more passionate cheerleader for St. Mark’s than this young man.

Student Alumni Association, football, basketball, Lion and Sword, Inclusion and Diversity Leadership Council, Marksmen yearbook editor, and more. Please join me in recognizing this year’s recipient of the School Flag, Noah Cathey.

The J.B.H. Henderson Citizenship Cup is awarded by the faculty and presented by the Head of Upper School to the senior who has genuine concern for others and is dedicated to the ideals of honor and justice.

One teacher said of this twelve-year Marksman, “He lifts up everyone in his path and leads with quiet confidence and humility.” And indeed, he does. When you think about genuine commitment to the well-being of others, this young man immediately comes to mind. Never one to seek the limelight or recognition, he simply looks for opportunities to make a difference.

In the classroom and on the playing field, he’s a scholar-athlete who exudes goodness, kindness, and positivity. He has a clear moral compass and charts a path that others follow on and off campus. This Marksman brings people together and lives out the ideals embedded in our School’s mission – integrity, spirituality, judgment, and character.

Multi-sport athlete, Student Alumni Association, TELOS, and much more, he’s dedicated to excellence and has contributed greatly to the community we share. It is an honor to present the J. B. H. Henderson Citizenship Cup to Parker Steinbrueck.

Additionally, several students received Faculty Special Awards for living out the ideals of the School and contributing to the betterment of others. David W. Dini announced the following 2024 recipients:

Ben Adams, Lucas Blumenthal, Ethan Gao, Charlie Hill, Hayden Meyers, Alex Pan, Grayson Redmond, Aditya Shivaswamy, Alex Soliz and Miller Wendorf.
