Alumni Practice Lessons of Service

Throughout their St. Mark’s educations, Marksmen are taught the importance of leading their communities forward, whether that be their class, their school, or their city. The Alumni Association’s National Day of Service is a natural extension of this mission, providing Marksmen the opportunity to unite across the country and support their local communities.

On Saturday, February 8, more than 100 Marksmen and guests nationwide took part in the 2025 National Day of Service, giving back in five major cities.

  • In Dallas, alumni made sandwiches and snack bags benefiting Austin Street Center and Hunger Busters.
  • In Austin, alumni served dinner to those in need at The Other Ones Foundation Esperanza Community.
  • In Boston, alumni cleaned the community garden at the Fenway Community Development Corporation.
  • In Houston, alumni inspected, sorted, and repackaged donated food items for community distribution at the Houston Food Bank.
  • In New York City, alumni served breakfast to guests at the Bowery Mission.

“The National Day of Service provides an opportunity for alumni and their families to come together in service to others,” said Tony Ruggeri ’00, chair of the Activities and Alumni Weekend Committee. “We work alongside current Marksmen, packing food for those in need and demonstrating that the path to manhood is a lifelong pursuit.”

For the past six years, the National Day of Service has created the opportunity for regional alumni clubs to organize volunteer efforts in their cities. The effort seamlessly builds upon St. Mark’s robust Community Service program, which contributed a combined 18,000 hours of volunteer service to the Dallas community last year.

This year’s National Day of Service leadership included:

  • Tony Ruggeri ’00, Chair of the Activities and Alumni Weekend Committee
  • Justin Mapes ’95, Hunger Busters Board Member
  • Jordan Dyslin ’11, Boston Regional Club Chair
  • Damon Wright ’04, New York Regional Club Chair
  • Stuart Nance ’78, Houston Regional Club Chair
  • Charles Branch ’10, Austin Regional Club Chair
