As the curtain closed at the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2016, more than 3,300 alumni, parents, and friends of the School contributed a record-breaking $3.79 million to the St. Mark’s Fund. Year after year, the School’s annual fund helps to make the St. Mark’s experience extraordinary by contributing more than 10 percent to the operating budget. Participation in the St. Mark’s Fund is an important measure of the overall strength of the School community, and the breadth of support speaks volumes. Community engagement is critical to the St. Mark’s mission and ensures that our campus continues to grow stronger.
For the first time in the School’s history, alumni raised more than $2 million in the St. Mark’s Fund, with the 10 Reunion Classes giving a record $800,000. Alumni participation reached a School record of 59 percent, one of the highest in the nation. Each of the 15 young alumni classes (2001-2015) reached an impressive 60 percent participation or greater, with the number of donors at the Young Associate’s level doubling over last year. Parent participation surpassed its goal of 90 percent for the fourth consecutive year, reaching an outstanding 93 percent and raising more than $1.8 million.
“The entire community has prioritized the St. Mark’s Fund to ensure that the School continues to perform at the highest levels,” said Board of Trustees Development Chair Mike Warnecke ’87. “Not only do our parents demonstrate their commitment to their sons’ education at the highest levels, but our alumni remain dedicated to the School for life. This community believes in and exemplifies the St. Mark’s culture of philanthropy.”
Thank you to the countless volunteers who worked diligently throughout the year to ensure the community remains connected to the School. Additionally, thank you to our donors who continue to make St. Mark’s a priority. Your investment in the St. Mark’s Fund guarantees that we have the best faculty who provide the boys with an unparalleled experience. Our challenging academic programs, myriad of extracurricular activities, and superb facilities are all made possible because of you. Thank you for ensuring that St. Mark’s remains a place where boys can be themselves, develop respect for others, and learn what it means to be a man of true character and integrity.
