Texas Instruments Honors Senior
Texas Instruments has named Kevin Wu ‘16 as one of only 23 recipients of the Jerry R. Junkins National Merit Scholarship. The award is given to children of active, retired, or deceased Texas Instruments employees who have been recognized as National Merit finalists. Kevin and the other finalists were welcomed with a ceremony at the TI Headquarters in Dallas, where TI Executive Vice President Brian Crutcher presented the awards.
To name the recipients, Texas Instruments partners with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to identify finalists in the National Merit program. After qualifying for further competition through outstanding scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, the students that have been named National Merit Semifinalists are then judged by an extensive application which includes an essay and information on their academic accomplishments, leadership positions, and extracurricular involvement to achieve finalist recognition. Kevin will attend Princeton University this fall.
Texas Instruments’ founders include Eugene McDermott and Cecil H. Green, two of St. Mark’s early leaders whose generosity transformed the campus.
