4th Graders Win National Competition
The Class of 2023 placed first in this year’s national WordMasters Challenge in the Blue Division against both public and private schools. The St. Mark’s team, consisting of all fourth-grade students, advanced to the national finals after scoring second in their division this April.
The WordMasters competition challenges students with a set of analogies, which each student must complete. For example, “Picture is to Blurred as Knife is to ____.”
The WordMasters Challenge is a national competition for students in grades 3-8 that encourages growth in vocabulary and verbal reasoning. Each year, more than 125,000 students throughout the United State participate.
