Community Celebrates Spirit

The St. Mark’s community kicked off the new school year with Lion Pride Night, an all-school spirit party on the night of the first home football game. On Friday, Sept. 8, more than 1,000 students, parents, faculty, staff and friends celebrated with a picnic on the Quad. The Spurs, choir, Student Council and cheerleaders pumped up the crowd before leading a parade into Norma & Lamar Hunt Family Stadium.

“Lion Pride Night epitomizes the spirit of the St. Mark's community,” said Johannah Kersey, who co-chaired the event with Lea Guiler. “It was exciting seeing everyone come together for an evening of camaraderie and celebration. Families enjoyed Goff's burgers while catching up with friends and faculty members. Young lions embraced the school spirit as they tossed footballs on the lawn and waved pom poms in the air. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who made this night a success, including our volunteers and Parents’ Association president Cindy Hanson.”

The varsity football team took on the John Cooper School. The Lions held a 15-8 lead in the fourth quarter when lightning cut the game short. St. Mark’s football is now undefeated after three games.
