Clothing Drive Supports Community

The Community Service Clothing Drive ended successfully, despite hurdles from the ongoing pandemic. While campus access is still heavily regulated, the St. Mark’s community delivered more than 3,000 pounds of clothing for donation to the St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) thrift stores, filling 10 bins to the top.

“We can always count on the St. Mark's community to respond to the needs of our neighbors,” said Jorge Correa, Spanish teacher and Community Service Director.

SVdP sells donated clothing at their Thrift Stores across North Texas to generate income that is used to subsidize families in crisis, such as helping pay utility bills or rent. This support is more crucial now than ever.

“The St. Mark’s community has always been incredibly supportive, but I think this year’s Clothing Drive perfectly demonstrates how strong of a community we really are,” said Benny Wang ’21, Community Service Board Co-Chair, who helped lead this year’s Clothing Drive.

In addition to the clothing drive, Marksmen also support SVdP by sorting donations at their stores and taking part in a tutoring program for local children.

“SVdP does a great job helping out families in crisis, and we’re very happy to make a small contribution to their mission,” Jorge said.
