During the month of May, Eugene McDermott Headmaster David Dini invited a small group of alumni to record messages of encouragement and support for the Class of 2020 as their final year at St. Mark’s came to a close. Having navigated an incredibly challenging and disruptive senior year, these Marksmen also missed out on many of the rituals and traditions that typically mark our boys’ final months in blue shirts, including spring sports and SPC, the Athletic Banquet, Baccalaureate, Marksmen Ball, the final day of classes on campus and much, much more. And yet, the Class of 2020 consistently demonstrated optimism, positivity, and resilience, setting a great example for the rest of the community and focusing on the well-being of others.
Special thanks to the alumni who took the time to record these heartfelt and meaningful messages. Every graduate not only readily agreed to participate, but also enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity to pass along words of encouragement and wisdom to this class of Marksmen. The videos were shared with the boys every few days in the weeks leading up to their originally scheduled graduation date of May 22, and several more will be shared as we approach their rescheduled Commencement, which will take place on July 31.
