St. Mark’s Mourns Passing of Dallas Titan

It is with great sadness that St. Mark’s mourns the passing of a Texas pioneer and national patriot, Ross Perot, who passed away at the age of 89 surrounded by his loving family. A long-time supporter and 2011 Commencement speaker, Mr. Perot made important and lasting contributions to St. Mark’s for over five decades. His son, Ross Perot, Jr. ’77 followed in his father’s footsteps, serving as a St. Mark’s Trustee for more than twenty years, including two years as Board President. In addition, a number of the Perot grandchildren have passed through the halls of St. Mark’s, continuing a legacy of contribution and impact. The Perot family has supported many initiatives across the campus including facilities, Master Teaching Chairs, student financial aid, faculty support and development, character education, and much, much more. The main quadrangle in the center of campus bears the Perot name in honor of the family’s longstanding leadership, vision, and generosity.

“Generations of Marksmen have benefitted from the loyalty, commitment, and benevolence of Ross Perot. He and his family have forever changed the landscape in Dallas and improved the lives of citizens across our great country,” said Headmaster David Dini. “On behalf of all my colleagues and the generations of Marksmen who have been touched by Mr. Perot’s generosity, Nancy and I want to express our sincere condolences to the extended Perot family during this difficult time of loss.”

Ross Perot was not only a pioneer in business, he was also a service-minded family man, deeply devoted to the common good. He and his wife Margot, along with their five children, have made extraordinary contributions to medical research, cultural arts, education, scientific discovery, social services, and other civic organizations. But Mr. Perot’s most noteworthy and passionate cause was his unwavering support of the U.S. military, military veterans, and the families of veterans. His quiet, unassuming, and often under the radar generosity, compassion, and leadership in support of veterans and veterans’ families demonstrated a lifetime of commitment and service that is simply unparalleled.
